Sonic Bombastic Bass
About me:

I was 9 years old when I began studying Classical & Jazz music while learning the trombone and tuba. I did not discover my true instrument of choice (bass guitar) until I attended a jam session with my Junior High School Jazz band. The deep rumbling vibrations of the Bass Guitar solidified my feeling that the trombone and tuba were incapable of communicating the bone buzzing tones that echoed in my head.

While playing non-stop with a handful of bands through high school, JetBoy, Astronomy, Snowhite, Dia-Nero, I honed my songwriting and musicianship skills. Opportunities within various solo endeavors opened up for me. These solo efforts involved, but were not limited to, studio work ranging from Country to Heavy Metal. (Other Keynotes: Frank’s pre-production work with Greg Lowry of Eddie Money and studio session-work with Steph Burns of Alice Cooper/Y&T.)

Frank has also enjoyed writing and performing with bands such as Chemical featuring Carlos Hernandez on the “Santana Brothers” CD, and Dirt Brothers featuring Aaron Jellum of Laaz Rockit and Steve Patterson formerly of The Ruffians. These bands routinely performed at Bay Area clubs such as The Omni, New Georges, The Berkeley Square, The Boardwalk, Hobies, Route 66, and Lindees to name a few.

Johnny Hi-Fi:  Very close friend and uber talented drummer Marc Day (former Doc Freud Drummer) plays percussion in this band.  Fronted by the multi talented musician, songwriter and vocalist Eric Hsu.  I enjoy performing live with them, whenever they need a fill in bassist.

Gayle Skidmore: Seven-time San Diego Music Award nominee Gayle Skidmore has written over 2000 songs since she began songwriting at the age of 8. A born songwriter, her natural ability and innate passion for music made her music career unavoidable. Gayle Skidmore was just nominated for Best Pop in the 2015 San Diego Music awards. Her latest album and coloring book, “Sleeping Bear,” won Best Pop Album in the 2014 San Diego Music Awards. She also won Best Singer-Songwriter in the 2013 San Diego Music Awards, and her song "Paper Box" was featured on HBO's new show "Looking."

Gayle is such a pleasure to work with and I had the opportunity to back her on bass duties opening for Jars of Clay and Switchfoot 2014, and Switchfoot 2015 Joshuafest in Quincy, CA.

Cradle: Sam Lage (Vocals), Craig Batchelder (Guitar), Todd Heller (Guitar) and Larry Barron (Drums). Cradle has performed with some of the greatest rock acts around, including Sammy Hagar, Starship, Foghat, Molly Hatchet, Pat Travers, Great White, Michael Schenker / MSG, George Lynch / Lynch Mob, Edgar Winter, Ronnie Montrose, Dave Meniketti / Y&T, L.A. Guns and The Tubes. The band’s broad appeal earned them gigs with Mary Wilson and The Supremes and with The Temptations Review featuring Dennis Edwards as part of Shelter, Inc.’s annual “Rock for Shelter” benefit concerts for the homeless people of Contra Costa County.

Doc Freud: Don Long (Vocals), Pete Boyd (Guitar) and Marc Day (Drums). Doc Freud enjoyed performing high energy hard rock mayhem over the years. Of note was placing as a top ten finalist in the Emergenza show at the Great American Music Hall in San Francisco.

Over the years I have been blessed with the opportunity to write music/lyrics and play bass in many bands filled with gifted musicians, vocalists, performers, songwriters and good friends.
